Lady Claire Macdonald and Fishbox have collaborated to create a brand new product just in time for Christmas - a seafood banquet in a box!
The banquet box comes in two sizes.
The large banquet box is £130 and contains:
• 1 side of hot smoked salmon
• 1 side of cold smoked salmon
• 1 side of cold smoked trout
• 4 smoked mackerel fillets
and the medium banquet box is £60 and contains:
• 250g hot smoked salmon
• 200g cold smoked salmon
• 200g cold smoked trout
• 2 smoked mackerel fillets
Not only will you receive these delicious Fishbox treats but we're also including a signed copy of Lady Claire’s Salmon Bible, recipes for each product, a handy shopping list, details of special offers from Lady Claire Macdonald's luxury hotel, Kinloch Lodge in Skye, and a personalised card if the banquet box is being given as a gift and delivery is free throughout the UK.
Lady Claire is a well loved writer and cook. Here is what she has to say about how the collaboration came about and why she is so excited to do it - "My collaboration with Fishbox came about when Fiona asked me if I would like to work with them. I said ‘yes’ immediately for 2 reasons - I have always loved fish and shellfish - indeed, I’ve written 3 books on cooking fish - and also, I’ve admired Magnus and Fiona ever since we first met them. Their work in running Coast and Glen and Fishbox somehow mirrors that of ours over the past 45 years, setting up and running Kinloch Lodge together - now run by our daughter Isabella."
Her vibrant personality makes Lady Claire an enthusiastic host - "Of course I enjoy entertaining over Christmas and New Year! For me, it is the most special time of the whole year. We always eat turkey on Christmas Day, always a Barra Bronze turkey, so on the days around Christmas Day I tend to cook fish; fish pie on Christmas Eve, steam-baked cod with salsa verde, smoked haddock chowder will feature, too, at some point."
Lady Claire created all the lovely recipes that are included in the banquet boxes, so you really can dine in style. We asked her what inspired the recipes - "The simple recipes within the Fishbox banquet boxes are recipes I’ve used over time, proven, delicious, so easy and so very complimentary to the main subject, the fish."
She certainly is the right Lady for the job!
Our Managing Director Fiona explains her vision - “We’ve known Claire for a long time now. We supply her hotel, Kinloch Lodge in Skye, so she’s knows our products through that. I came up with the idea for Christmas banquet boxes – a really nice spread for your family, with recipes created by a chef but are really easy to make. Leaving you time to put your feet up with a glass of prosecco before your guests arrive."
Lady Claire Macdonald joins forces with Fishbox to showcase Scotland’s fantastic seafood at the Chef's Live Theatre at the Highland Food and Drink Festival 2018 at Eden Court (see previous blog). There will be marinated salmon and smoked mackerel pate on the menu (and perhaps a few other treats).
