Blackened Spiced Halibut

Great served with salad or fries. If you want an extra kick, leave the fish to soak up the coating for a couple of hours.


  • 4 X 110g fillets of halibut 
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp pepper
  • 2-1/2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tablespoons butter



  1. In a large dish, combine the garlic, salt, onion powder, oregano, thyme, cayenne pepper, pepper and paprika then mix well.
  2. Add halibut, two at a time, and coat them well in the spice mix.
  3. In a large frying pan, on a medium heat, cook halibut in butter until the fish flakes easily with a fork. (3-4 minutes on each side)
